Returns & Exchanges
We build Fifth Year to be lived in for years — so if something isn't right, we'll make it right. Here's exactly how returns and exchanges work.
Return approval and destination eligibility
Returns or exchanges for eligible merchandise must be requested within 14 days of delivery, subject to prior authorization, inspection and approval. FIFTH YEAR reserves the right to approve or reject returns and exchanges based on the condition and eligibility requirements below.
We ship within the continental United States only. Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, other U.S. territories and international destinations are not available at checkout — email hello@fifthyr.com and we will arrange your order directly with you, including a shipping quote and any customs duties, once approved. Orders arranged this way are final sale and are not eligible for return, exchange, refund or store credit.
Store credit
If you choose store credit, we waive the return shipping and restocking fees in full. After we receive, inspect and approve your return, store credit is issued for the full eligible merchandise value. Original outbound shipping paid at purchase is non-refundable.
Refunds
If you choose a refund to your original payment method, we deduct $9.95 return shipping, plus a restocking fee of $8 for the first item and $3 for each additional item returned. For example, returning one item costs $17.95 ($9.95 + $8); returning three items costs $23.95 ($9.95 + $8 + $3 + $3). Original outbound shipping paid at purchase is non-refundable. Refunds are processed after your return is received, inspected and approved.
Exchanges
Exchanges for another size or style must be requested within 14 days of delivery and are subject to eligibility and availability. Your replacement is sent once your return reaches us — as soon as we receive and inspect the returned item, we release the new size and ship it out.
Your first exchange on an order is free: there is no return shipping or restocking fee, and FIFTH YEAR covers outbound shipping on the replacement. If the replacement is lower priced, we credit the difference; if higher priced, you pay the difference.
A second or later exchange on the same order is charged like a return: $9.95 return shipping, plus a restocking fee of $8 for the first item and $3 for each additional item exchanged, and you also pay outbound shipping on the replacement. If your requested exchange is unavailable, you may choose store credit or a refund under the terms above.
Return eligibility
Returned merchandise must be in original, unworn, unwashed, unused condition with all original tags attached, and free of stains, makeup, deodorant, discoloration, fragrance, smoke, odors, pet hair, stretching, pulling, pilling, alterations, damage or other signs of wear or use.
Tags alone do not guarantee acceptance. FIFTH YEAR inspects all returns and may approve or reject based on condition. Items that appear worn, used, altered, damaged or handled beyond a reasonable try-on may be rejected even with tags attached. Rejected items are not eligible for refund, store credit or exchange.
Final sale
Items marked Final Sale, including promotional merchandise identified as Final Sale at purchase, are not eligible for return, exchange, refund or store credit.
Damaged or incorrect items
Contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photos if you receive a damaged, defective or incorrect item. Approved cases are resolved at no extra cost, with no return shipping or restocking fee.
Starting a return or exchange
To start a return, sign in to your account, open the order, and choose the items, the quantity and a reason. Signing in takes a one-time code sent to the email address on your order. Once your request is approved we email you a return shipping label. If you have trouble signing in, email hello@fifthyr.com with your order number and we will open the return for you. Returns sent without prior authorization may not be accepted.
Return shipping deadline
You must ship your return or exchange back within 7 calendar days of receiving your return shipping label. Packages handed to the carrier after this deadline will not be processed for a refund, store credit, or exchange.

Orders placed before this policy
These terms apply to orders placed after October 17, 2026. Orders placed on or before October 17, 2026 follow the return policy in effect when the order was placed.
Starting a return or exchange
You do not need an account and there is no password to remember. Go to Start a return, enter the email address you used on your order, and we will send you a six-digit code. Your orders are already waiting there, even if you checked out as a guest. Open the order, then choose the items, the quantity and a reason. Want an exchange instead of a refund? Choose the reason that matches (for example, size too small or size too large) and write the size you would like in the notes box. Writing it there is your authorisation for us to process the exchange — we will not need to email you first, and there is no charge for the swap. If you would like a different size, add it in the note and we will set the exchange up when we review your request, subject to availability. Once your request is approved we will email you a return shipping label, and you can follow your return from the same page. Refunds to your original payment method have the following deducted — $9.95 return shipping plus a restocking fee of $8 for the first item and $3 for each additional item. Both are waived if you choose store credit or for your first exchange on an order, and we apply that waiver when we review your request. Exchanges are sent once your return reaches us — as soon as we receive and inspect the item, we release your replacement and ship it out. If you have any trouble signing in, email us and we will open the return for you. We reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.
